Pancake breakfast

There will be a pancake breakfast at the North Windham Applebee’s on June 14 from 8-9:15 a.m. It will benefit Open Gates Equine Rescue Inc. and Hemlock Valley Equine Rescue Inc. Tickets are $6 and advance purchase is recommended. Please send your check to: Open Gates Equine Rescue Inc., 407 Morse Road, New Gloucester 04260, and the ticket will be mailed to you.

Summerfest drive

Windham Summerfest will be accepting donations of your bottles and cans to help support the third annual festival. This year’s festivities will be held on Saturday, June 20, with parade, food, booths, entertainment, and fun and games all day followed by fireworks at dusk. Donations can be dropped off at Patman’s Redemption on Route 115 and Southern Maine Redemption on Heathwood Drive in Windham. Summerfest stickers to place on your donations will be provided, and donation pickups are available by calling Josh at 939-7850 or Joe at 650-3904.

Community supper

Join other community members for a hearty chicken pot pie supper with all the extras. The Windham Hill United Church of Christ community supper will be held on Saturday, May 23, from 5-6:30 p.m. at the church, 140 Windham Center Road. The price is $8 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under.

Meeting

The Rebekahs will meet in the Odd Fellows Hall May 20 at 7:30 p.m. They will confer degrees on three candidates. Joan Labbe is in charge of the program and Brenda Collett is in charge of refreshments.

Benefit supper

A spaghetti supper on Sunday, May 17, at the Friends Church will help support our local food pantry. The menu includes spaghetti, salad, bread and dessert. Admission is by free-will donation. The church is located at 374 Gray Rd. ( Route 202). Supper will be served from 5-6:30 p.m.

Happy Birthday

Lew and Joanne Weatherby, Gray Road, joined with other family members to celebrate the birthday of her mother, Betty Estes. Betty, of West Baldwin, marked her birthday May 9. She received some special gifts!

Shriners meet

The Lakes Region Shriners Club will meet Tuesday, May 19, at Gilbert’s Chowder House. The social hour will begin at 5:30 p.m. and dinner will be at 6:30. The speaker will be John Gailey, the Kora Shrine Outer Guard.

DVD sale

A used book and DVD sale will be held on Saturday, June 13, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Windham Hill United Church of Christ at 140 Windham Center Road. There will be a huge selection of fiction and nonfiction available. For more information, call the church at 892-4217.
