Veterans news

Mr. Robin Shepard, State of Maine veterans advocate, will be available from 9-11 a.m. May 13 at the Windham Veterans Center to help veterans apply for benefits. This service is free and no appointment is necessary.

Family Heritage Festival

Windham Primary School will hold its Family Heritage Festival Friday, May 8, from 6-8 p.m. The Family Heritage Festival began in 2007, involving the families and staff at the school and sponsored by the English as a Second Language Department. The 2008 festival expanded to include Manchester School as well, and this year’s event will feature the entire school system.

The purpose of the festival is to enhance the community’s sense of connectedness by sharing the rich cultural heritages of each and every family in the Windham community. There will be food, dance, music, arts and crafts, games, artifacts and stories from many different cultures.

Reminder

The Windham Food Pantry will hold its third annual yard sale on May 9 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Rain date is May 10, same time. Loads of items, great prices. Go and support our local food pantry!

Dean’s list

Jeremy Egan, son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Egan, made the dean’s list at Northeastern University last semester. Jeremy is in his third year majoring in electrical engineering. He is a 2006 Windham High School graduate.

Farmer’s market

The Lake Region Farmer’s Market is now open for the season. It is open every Saturday through October, from 8 a.m. to noon. The market is located in the parking lot of the Manchester School. This year it also has an Artisans Lane, consisting of upscale crafters.

Edith Bell has a new address. She now resides at the Morningside Assisted Living, Room 225, 440 McClaws Circle, Williamsburg, Va. 23185. Her birthday just passed, but it would be nice if people sent her either belated cards or a note; she would appreciate them.
