Fundraising for Summerfest is now underway, with plenty of opportunities to contribute to this great event in Windham. This year’s festivities will be held Saturday, June 20, with a parade, food, booths, entertainment, fun & games all day with fireworks at dusk.

Summerfest will be accepting donations of your bottles and cans to help support the third annual Windham Summerfest. Donations can be dropped off at Patman’s Redemption on Route 115 and Southern Maine Redemption on Heathwood Drive in Windham. Summerfest stickers to place on your donations will be provided and donation pickups are available by calling Josh at 939-7850 or Joe at 650-3904.

Also, for all you racing fans, there will be the Summerfest Shoot Out, a Nascar-style race Tuesday, May 12, at 7 p.m. at Victory Lane Indoor Karting, 1172 Riverside Street, Portland.

There will be a total of 10 drivers in the race. Seven have been predetermined, including state Sen. Bill Diamond, Deputy Fire Chief Stan Emerson, Officer Matt Cyr of the Windham Police Department, Chief Deputy Kevin Joyce of the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department, Lynn Bucknell of Windham Parks and Recreation, and state Representatives Gary Plummer and Mark Bryant.

The remaining three spots will be filled in a variety of ways: one to a racer with the fastest lap, one to the highest bidder, and one through a drawing. To qualify for the fastest lap, contact Victory Lane at 797-9399 by May 10. All entrants besides the fastest will be entered for the drawing. You can also bid on the final spot in the race. Contact Josh at 939-7850 or Joe at 650-3904 for more information or to make donations.
