A Limington man has been arrested and charged with the March 11 robbery of Gorham Savings Bank in Standish.

Michael James Goodwin, 37, was arrested this morning at around 8:15 a.m. at his residence at 80 Ossipee Trail. He is charged with one count of Class A robbery in connection with the bank heist, Captain Don Goulet of the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release.

Goodwin was taken to the Cumberland County Jail, where he is currently being held on a $25,000 cash bail, Goulet said. He will be arraigned early next week if he is not bailed before then.

According to Goulet, the case broke as a result of several citizens calling the Sheriff’s Office after seeing the news report and bank surveillance photos that appeared on television, in newspapers and on the Internet.

Gorham Savings Bank, located at the Colonial Marketplace on Ossipee Trail, was robbed March 11 at around 2 p.m. According to police, Goodwin entered the bank and passed a note to a teller demanding money. The suspect told the teller that he had a gun, though he did not show it. The teller gave him an undisclosed amount of money and the suspect fled the scene on foot.
