Bonny Eagle’s Jamie Ruginski is the best high school long jumper in New England.
Ruginski jumped 22 feet, 7.75 inches to win the boys long jump on Friday at the 22nd annual New England Interscholastic Indoor Track and Field Championships at Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center in Boston. His jump was nearly a foot better than his nearest competitor. Ruginski was the only Mainer to win an event at the meet. He also placed eighth in the 55-meter hurdles, finishing in 7.91 seconds.
Also representing the Scots were Nick Winslow (boys 55 hurdles), Melissa Carrier (girls 55 dash), Tim Belanger (boys two mile), Morgan DeCosta (girls 300), Peyton Dostie (girls 600) and the girls 4×200-meter relay team of Costa, Nicole DeMidio, Dostie and Carrier.
Gray-New Gloucester’s Ben Miklovich was seventh in boys 300, finishing in 35.81. He also competed in the 55 dash. Ethan Ray ran in the boys 600 for the Patriots. Both Miklovich and Ray also ran on Gray-New Gloucester’s 4×200 boys relay team, which placed sixth in 1:33.61. Cody Chase and Will Danieli also ran legs of the relay.
