The Lake Region High girls finished second and the boys took third at Monday’s Western Maine Conference alpine ski meet, held at Shawnee Peak in Bridgton.

The Lakers hosted the Giant Slalom event, which also included Fryeburg Academy, Freeport and Falmouth.

India Bell of Lake Region won the girls competition with a two-run combined time of 1:06.07. Also placing for Lake Region were Whitney Bartke in fourth, Emily Dovick in 18th and Melissa Panter in 25th. With 48 points, the Lakers were runner-up to Fryeburg, which had 18. Falmouth was third with 54 and Freeport fourth with 65.

Fryeburg’s Preston Jones won the boys competition in 1:03.03. Jack Tragert finished third to pace the Lakers. Also scoring for Lake Region were Clark Sulloway in 10th, Wesley Sulloway in 11th and Christian Oren in 24th. The team finished with 48 points. Falmouth won with 19, Fryeburg was second with 26 and Freeport fourth with 66.
