Fido needs a license
All dogs aged 6 months or older must be registered by Dec. 31 each year. Please bring your dog’s current rabies certificate with you at the time of registration. Fees for neutered/spayed dogs are $6 per year; non-neutered/non-spayed dogs are $11 per year. If the dog(s) is no longer in your possession and has been registered in the Town of Gray, please contact the Town Office.

The food closet in Gray is very busy this year helping needy families. The Town of Gray would like to thank Mr. & Mrs. Paul Harmon, Mr. & Mrs. Joseph Jones and Hermann and Laurie Winters for their very generous monetary donations. The Boy Scouts, First Congregational Church of Gray, St. Gregory’s Parish, Sunday School at the First Congregational Church, Gray Extension, Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, and the “anonymous food angel” are some of the other organizations that donate on a regular basis. The volunteers that we have separating, sorting all the boxes of food that have been a blessing on helping distributing the food. Councilor Margaret Hutchins’ mother has knitted hats, mittens, scarves for the Caring Community of Gray/New Gloucester.
Volunteers needed
The Town of Gray is seeking volunteers to serve on a special committee called the Town Office Committee. Town Council desires potential representation from the following areas for a total of 12 regular members, including three Town Council members, the town manager, the community development/town building administrator, fire chief, a member of Planning Board, a member of CEDC, two members from the public, a Historical Society member and a Pennell alumni.
Interested applicants for CEDC member, members of the public, Historical Society and Pennell alumni representative are encouraged to obtain an application at Town Hall or at the official Town of Gray Web site at http://www.graymaine.org/Public_Documents/GrayME_BComm/index.

Evening Book Group
An evening adult Gray Public Library book group has been formed with a monthly meeting Wednesday evenings with Jane Kidder facilitating the evening group. The next meeting is Wednesday, Jan. 21 at 6:45 p.m. The book for discussion is Peace Like a River, by Leif Enge. This selections should be readily available through Minerva libraries so that members won’t have to purchase copies – unless they want to!

Winter at the Wildlife Park
Have you ever wondered what the Maine Wildlife Park’s animals do in the winter? Now you can see for yourself! This winter, the park will allow the public to visit the park on cross-country skis, snowshoes or on foot for exclusive access to our animals in a winter setting. You can capture once-in-a-lifetime photos of wildlife trekking through the snow! These tours are by reservation only and are only available on certain days, so please call or e-mail the park today to set up your winter visit. Special admission fees apply. Things to do
Auditions for the Fiddlehead Players production of “Jungle Book – Kids” will be held Saturday, Jan. 3 from 9 a.m. to noon and Sunday, Jan. 4 from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. You should be prepared to stay for an hour. There are roles for children from ages 8 thru 18. No acting experience or advance preparation is necessary. Actors should just be ready to come and have a good time. There is a place in the production for over 70 children. Rehearsals will be held Thursdays and Saturdays at Fiddlehead Center at 25 Shaker Road in Gray. A detailed rehearsal schedule will be distributed at the auditions. There are three ways to register: by phone at 657-2244, by e-mail information@fiddleheadcenter.org, or in person at Fiddlehead Center in Gray Village.
Fiddlehead Center is a non-profit organization based in Gray, Maine, offering quality programming in the arts and sciences for children in the region including Raymond, Casco, Poland, North Yarmouth, Yarmouth, Falmouth, Windham, Cumberland, Gray and New Gloucester.

The non-profit Fresh Air Fund, which takes poor children from New York City and places them in rural settings, is looking for host families for summer .
