A free puppet workshop for children ages 8 to 12 will be offered Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Scarborough Public Library, 48 Gorham Road.

Puppet maker Wanda Schiche will discuss her craft of puppet and introduce different types of puppets. The children will then create rod and shadow puppets using a cowboy theme.

The theme was chosen in anticipation of an upcoming Frogtown Mountain Puppeteers production at the library. “The Legend of the Banana Kid” will be performed on Sunday, Jan. 4 at 1:30 p.m.
