A local food pantry got a $3000 boost recently after South Portland and Cape Elizabeth Rotarians learned of its transportation problems.

Club President Janet McLaughlin presented a check to the South Portland Food Cupboard to repair a van that was donated to the pantry. The van is essential for errands such as picking up food donations from various locations in the community, said the pantry’s head, Sybil Riemensnider.

The Food Cupboard is located in the basement of St. John the Evangelist Church, Route 1, South Portland, and is open every Thursday morning from 8:30-11:30 a.m. For more information, call 874-0379 or e-mail foodcupboard@maine.rr.com.
