‘Courage’ on display
Saint Joseph’s College Professor Scott Fuller will be taking the stage Wednesday, Dec. 5 at 6:30 p.m. in room 128 of Alfond Hall to discuss his art piece, ” Reaching for Courage: Gateway to China.”
The piece, co-designed by Portland artist Asherah Cinnamon, was constructed for the Beijing Olympic Landscape Sculpture Contest. The piece was one of 50 Ring Award winners out of 290 design finalists selected as “Excellent Works.” It was displayed at the 2008 Summer Olympics held in China. Fuller and Cinnamon’s piece traveled to over 35 countries, and has been published in five books this year to date.
Fuller is a resident of Poland and earned his Master of Fine Arts at Maine College of Art in Portland. When he is not teaching he works in multiple art techniques. His works include large-scale drawings and collages, indoor and outdoor installations, object-based sculpture, ceramics and photography.
Fuller’s presentation will include a talk and slide show detailing the contest process as well as the sculpture exhibition in China. The event is free and open to the public.

FYI from PWD
Some Portland Water District customers will receive a credit on their November/December bill because the Portland Water District incorrectly charged a $19 fee for the posting of a multi-unit tenanted property. The posting fee was charged as part of the water disconnection process for nonpayment of water and or sewer bills. As a result of a finding by the Public Utilities Commission, the District is refunding the posting fee that it had charged to customers. This is a one-time credit.
