If you would like to help maintain community walking trails, but hate pesky biting insects, this is your chance. As the end of the trail work season approaches, the Lakes Environmental Association is organizing two days for volunteers and staff to address some of the much needed work on the trails of the Holt Pond Preserve.
Volunteers can meet at LEA Lakes Center in Bridgton Tuesday, Nov. 25 and Tuesday, Dec. 8 at 9 a.m. All gloves and tools will be supplied by LEA, but you may bring your own if you wish.
Over the past five years the Lakes Environmental Association’s land preserves and hiking trails have grown. LEA expanded the Holt Pond Preserve, revitalized the Stevens Brook Trail and helped establish Bridgton’s Pondicherry Park. As LEA focused time and resources to establish the new trails in Pondicherry Park and along Stevens Brook, portions of the Holt Pond trail system have been neglected.
If you have any questions regarding this volunteer opportunity or if you would like to adopt a section of trail for regular maintenance please e-mail Adam Perron of the Lakes Environmental Association at Adam@leamaine.org or call 647-8580.
