Air National Guard Airman William J. Hannigan has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.
During the six weeks of training, the airman studied the Air Force mission, organization, and military customs and courtesies; performed drill and ceremony marches, and received physical training, rifle marksmanship, field training exercises, and special training in human relations.
In addition, airmen who complete basic training earn credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
He is the son of Bill Hannigan of Portland and Carolyn Dorr of Windham. Hannigan is a 2006 graduate of Cheverus High School in Portland.
Army Pfc. Patricia A. Nicholas completed has the Modern Army Combatives program level three.
The program consists of training in 21st century weapons systems, combat tactics training, classroom instruction, and close-quarters hand-to-hand combat techniques to defeat enemy forces in a combat environment.
Nicholas is an operations specialist assigned to Headquarters Battery, 35th Air Defense Artillery Brigade at Osan Air Base in South Korea. The private first class has served in the military for two years.
She is the daughter of Steve and Helen L. Sheerin of Portland, Ore., and Calvin Nicholas of Sebago.
The private is a 2005 graduate of McMinnville High School in Oregon.
