New Gloucester residents Betty Carter, left, Andrea Segars and Vicky Liberty reach the finish line at the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer held Saturday in New York City.
Carter, the graphics coordinator for Current Publishing, is also a breast cancer survivor. The women, who each raised more than $1,800, walked a 26.2 mile course through Manhattan and over the Brooklyn Bridge to raise money which provides access to care and funds research leading to a cure for breast cancer.
The two-day walk attracted more than 4,500 participants and raised $11.5 million. October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Courtesy photo
