The Lakes Region Weekly, Sebago Lakes Region Chamber of Commerce and Greater Bridgton Lakes Region Chamber of Commerce are coming together to sponsor two forums featuring local candidates running for seats in the Maine Legislature.
The first forum, scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 2, at 7 p.m. at Windham High School, will host candidates for Senate Districts 11 and 12, and House Districts 102, 105, 109, 110 and 111.
The second forum, set for Thursday, Oct. 9, at 7 p.m. at Lake Region High School in Naples, features candidates from Senate Districts 12 and 13, as well as House Districts 98, 99, 101 and 103.
Some of the questions at the Windham forum will be provided by Windham High School students under the tutelage of Peter Small, who said both he and the students are excited to be a part of the electoral process.
Mike McClellan, executive director of the Greater Bridgton Lakes Region Chamber of Commerce, said he is excited that his organization is helping to provide area residents access to the candidates.
“We feel it is important to get the information out there so our members and the rest of the community can make informed decisions when they pull the lever at the ballot box,” McClellan said.
