“Money $mart Teens,” a free, five-part series that gives high school students a first-hand look at financial planning and money management, returns to the Scarborough Public Library beginning Wednesday at 6:30 p.m., with “Budgeting and Goal Setting: Putting You in the Driver’s Seat.”

The series was first introduced last fall through a partnership with Saco & Biddeford Savings Institution. Celeste Shinay, manager of programming and development at the library, said the response to last year’s series made the decision to repeat the program an easy one for both institutions. The content for each session was developed by a team of Saco & Biddeford Savings professionals using real-world, age-appropriate examples on topics including budgeting, credit cards, online banking and saving for college.

Other sessions in the series will include “Electronic Banking: Tracking Your Money,” Wednesday, Oct. 15; “Building Smart Credit: Good Debt vs. Bad Debt,” Wednesday, Nov. 5; “Cost of Working: What Do You Really Take Home?,” Wednesday, Nov. 19; and “College Expenses: The Untold Story,” on Wednesday, Jan. 7. The final session will include a panel of current college students. All sessions will be held from 6:30-7:30 p.m., in the library meeting room.
