Windham fire fighters, accompanied by police officers, were called Wednesday night to a fire at a house that was the scene of a drug raid earlier in the day.

The fire at 147 Smith Road started at around 7 p.m. Investigators are still trying to determine the cause of the fire. About four hours earlier, Windham police, working in conjunction with federal authorities, raided the house as part of a marijuana investigation.

Police said the home is being rented by a young couple but did not release their names. No one was home at the time of the raid or the fire. No arrests have been made, said Lt. Dave DeGruchy of the Windham Police Department.

“There was some evidence taken. We are not disclosing what or exactly how much,” he said.
