A Gray woman has been arrested for prostitution after authorities were alerted to a listing on craigslist, a national online classified ad service.

Donna Terrio, 21, was arrested during a sting operation Tuesday at around 4:30 p.m. She was released on bail later that evening. During the operation, Terrio allegedly propositioned an undercover detective with the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, said Chief Deputy Kevin Joyce.

Investigators contacted Terrio and set up a meeting after they received information that she was using craigslist to offer sexual services, Joyce said.

“It was clear she was soliciting men rather than companionship,” said Joyce. “The pictures attached were provocative in nature.”

After meeting Terrio at her home, the detective and Terrio left the residence in a truck at her request, Joyce said. During the ride, Terrio and the detective negotiated a deal for sexual acts, and the arrest was made, he said.

Terrio had posted the ad on craigslist around 10 times over the past two months, Joyce said. She has prior arrests in California and Nevada for prostitution, as well as some prior criminal convictions on burglary, theft and drug charges, he said.
