More than 70 years after it began, the Casco Days festival returns from July 24-26 for three days of activities and entertainment.

The festival, which benefits the Casco Fire Association, will kick off with fireworks Thursday, July 24 at 9:30 p.m. The following evening will feature a children’s parade and German band concert while on Saturday there will be a full day of activities, including a road race, parade and performance by Rick Charette and the Bubble Gum Band.

The first annual Casco Days in 1935 was sponsored by the Casco high school alumni association. The main attractions then were horse pulls, water sports and baseball games. The penny pitch proved the biggest attraction on the midway, according to the Casco Days Web site.

The midway has grown over the years, with more games, prizes, food and entertainment. With a large volunteer staff, Casco Days continues to flourish.

All activities are held at Casco Day Park. For more festival information, visit www.cascodays.org.
