The June 10 Standish elections were disappointing if not tragic. Only 19 percent of the registered voters thought it was important enough to exercise the hard fought freedom of their fathers for their right to vote. The remaining 81 percent have given up their right to complain. There’s a boat leaving for Cuba shortly with room for all of you.
I was a losing candidate. I didn’t mind losing as I simply wanted to give out new and fresh choices and solutions to problems done the old way. But in losing the 13 percent and 11 percent of the voters who chose the incumbents to remain in office apparently were happy with the old way of doing things and were not open to the ever evolving change of our society.
It appears the 81 percent who thought it was unimportant to vote are very happy with present operations. Therefore I will not in the future challenge the voters to change.
I would like to thank all the voters who took the opportunity to vote for me and the solutions I proposed.
Let me congratulate Phil Pomerleau and Lou Stack. I enjoyed upsetting both of you at the polls. Nothing personal, “just business.”
