Back on the map
The 2002 Sebago Lake Region map and guide is being replaced this summer with a new version. These maps will be available for free at the Sebago Lake Water District in Standish. Also, copies are usually available at Spaulding Memorial Library and local businesses throughout Sebago.
Artist of the Month
The Spaulding Memorial Library artist of the month for June is Ray Nelson. He is the owner of Sebago Lake Camps, located here in Sebago. Nelson is an amateur carver of canes and walking sticks. Whenever possible, he likes to incorporate elements of nature in his work.
This month’s donated item is a cane. The staff is made of carved and wood burned spiral beechwood. The cane’s handle was made from a deer antler. The estimated value of this item is $80, with bids starting at $60. The last bid will be taken on June 30.
Last month’s auction winner was Jan Wilk, who came in with a winning bid of $45. The starting bid on the Garden tote filled with goodies was $30.
In other Spaulding news, this year’s summer reading program starts June 30. Children of all ages are welcome. The library is offering a
variety of programs, activities and giveaways. Everyone who comes to the summer reading program will receive tickets to the Seashore Trolley Museum in Kennebunk.
