Benefit supper

There will be a chicken supper with all the fixings, dessert and beverage at the American Legion, 300 Conant St., Friday from 4:30-6 p.m. The cost is $6. Proceeds will benefit the family of Dylan McCarthy.

Library sets family events

Warren Library has announced its July Summer Family Events. Those interested in attending should call 854-5891 to register. Activities include:

July 9, 2-3 p.m., “The Singing Poet Guy.” This performance by Maine native Lawrence J. Clark offers original poetry, music and stories that “lift the heart.” Clark is now a Texas-based performer, author and college professor. This event is suitable for kids ages 6 and up and grownups of all ages.

July 16, 10:30 a.m., “Color Me Green” concert with award-winning songwriter and musician Mike Nobel. His songs convey the importance of protecting all creatures in the natural environment. The performance is appropriate for both pre-school and elementary-level children.

July 23, 10:30 a.m., “Buggy Stories,” performed by Michael Parent. Ever wondered why ants carry large bundles or why ants are everywhere on earth? Why do mosquitoes buzz in people’s ears and why are Maine mosquitoes so nasty? These how-and-why stories by acclaimed storyteller Michael Parent offer “answers” to questions about favorite (and not-so-favorite) bugs. This event is suitable for kids ages 6 and up.
