Thank you to all our and Zach’s friends, family and the Lakes Region community who contributed to the Zach Smith Scholarship Fund. When our son, Zach, died unexpectedly on February 22, 2008, at the age of 19, we felt there would be no better way to keep his memory alive than start a music scholarship fund in his memory.

His passion in life was his music and guitar and he had plans to study this in college. We recently met with Jordan Small Middle School music department and principal to discuss the community/school needs with regard to the music program. We have decided to use the money to help purchase needed band instruments for Jordan Small Middle School students to use should they not have the financial ability to rent or buy them.

This will help those students interested in learning an instrument have the opportunity they might not have otherwise. We will offer a yearly scholarship to a Raymond resident who plans to study music in college. This will be a $500 scholarship. Working with Jordan Small Middle School, we will get this information to the area high school guidance departments. This scholarship will begin this year.

We would like this scholarship/fund to continue for many years to come so continued contributions will be appreciated. All contributions are tax deductible. They can be made at Raymond Key Bank, 1278 Roosevelt Trail, Raymond, ME 04071 to the Zach Smith Memorial Music Scholarship Fund.

Thank you all,

Ken, Heidi and Spencer Smith

Raymond
