I read Kay Soldier’s article, “Is it news or is it publicity?” in the May 2 Lakes Region Weekly.

Thank you, thank you, over and over again. Someone finally made sense in the local newspapers. A long, long time ago when I first got involved with town government, someone, who I admired and was an old time selectman or town councilor told me, that whatever a group, that you belong to does, you share the fame or the blame. I never forgot that.

After participating in writing three comprehensive plans, for the town of Windham, and studying the town government, I am still amazed at how well our predecessors did in managing this town. Our tax mil rate is one of the lowest in the area and our services appear to meet the needs of our residents.

We have modernized our departments and have improved our road system. We have a new high school, town office, East Windham Fire Station, Central Fire Station, Manchester School, and have doubled the size of our library. All without breaking the bank.

The tax mil rate has not gone up for three years. Congratulations Town Council, continue the good work.
