The American Legion Post 148 invitates community members and organizations in Windham to join the Windham Veterans Association and the town of Windham in the celebration of Memorial Day, Monday, May 26.

The parade forms at 8:30 a.m. in front of Town Hall (enter from Windham Center Road (there is parking at the junior high school, high school and library) and steps out at 9 a.m. with the parade route along Route 202 past Windham Center Road ending at Windham High School.

A brief Memorial Day Ceremony will follow at 10 a.m. in front of the High School Memorial. This is also an opportunity to see your donations at work and check out the American Legion Post 148 Flag program. Flags will be placed on the utility poles along the parade route and will be up from Memorial Day to Labor Day.

Who are we looking for and how might you participate?

We are asking for Scout groups, youth groups, civic and social groups and any other groups that would like to join in the parade to help celebrate Memorial Day. We are looking for color guards, marching units, theme floats and groups in period costume.

Antique car, truck and tractor club participation is also most welcome. Show your colors and support for the veterans. Come join the parade. Plan on being in the Summerfest parade? Why not get double the exposure and join the Memorial Day parade as well?
