American Legion Post 148 would like to express our sincere thanks to every one of you who donated to help raise funds to put up American flags in Windham. We raised enough to put up more than 100 flags along sections of routes 115, 202 and 302 from mid-May prior to Memorial Day to mid-September after Labor Day.

We would also like to acknowledge the work done by our Town Manager, Tony Plante, to coordinate with Verizon to ensure we received the proper license in time to get the flags up this year. Finally, thanks to the Town Council for coming together on this project, for their support and recommendations along the way. Thank you!

I invite all community organizations to join the Memorial Day Parade with a float or people to march along with the veterans in the parade to see the flags along Route 202. Please send an e-mail to myngame@aol.com if you plan to participate, Monday, May 26, starting at 9:15 a.m. (assemble on School Street starting at 8:30 a.m.). The parade will be followed at 10 a.m. with a memorial ceremony at the high school.

The Post anticipated when we started that it would take us three years to raise the funds for this project. You responded very generously to our requests and the funds were raised in less than a year. Thank you!

Don McCormack

Adjutant, American Legion Post 148
