McCue on dean’s list

Miranda McCue has been named to the dean’s list for the fall term at Ithaca College’s School of Humanities and Sciences, Ithaca, N.Y.

McCue is the daughter of William and Alison McCue.

Church rummage sale

United Methodist Women will sponsor a two-day spring rummage and perennial sale at the Cressey Road United Methodist Church, one mile west of Gorham Village at the intersection of Cressey Road and Route 25.

The sale will be 9 a.m.-4 p.m. on Friday, April 25, and 9 a.m.-1 p.m., Saturday, April 26.

Ruth Ayers, chairwoman, said this year’s sale will include clothes, dishes, furniture, books, puzzles, toys, houseplants and perennials. She said those who attend Friday would find the most variety at low prices.

Saturday will feature additional markdowns and at 11 a.m. a grocery bag can be filled for $1.

Ayers said there’ll be something for everyone. “Just what everyone is looking for at this time of economic concerns. And a way to think green,” she said.

Safety for kids

Gorham Recreation Department invited Rebecca Quirk and Melissa Gallant to visit Kiddie Gym recently to demonstrate car seat safety and how to properly secure child passengers.

Quirk and Gallant are registered nurses at the Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital in Portland. Quirk is also a child passenger safety tech instructor with Safe Kids Maine, an organization, which provides outreach and safety information to the public.

YourSpace benefit

A community rummage sale 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 19, will benefit YourSpace, formerly Gorham Sports Center, on Narragansett Street (Route 202).

YourSpace is now operated by Southern Maine Recreation Center, a nonprofit, volunteer group.
