The hill thaws
The trails are still open at Libby Hill Forest Trails but expect rapidly changing conditions over the next month. Please check the trail conditions at www.Libbyhill.org for updates. As the thaw continues in April, please avoid using trails if they are very muddy and soft. Ruts and other trail damage during the short spring thaw can create lots of trail repair work that is unnecessary if trail users take thoughtful precautions before heading out on spring trails.
You can contribute to the Libby Hill with your time. There is a wide range of volunteer projects that can fit most any schedule. Come to the Friends of Libby Hill informational meeting on Monday, March 31 at the Androscoggin Bank in Gray at 6:30 p.m. to learn more.
Anyone who has ever used the Libby Hill trails is asked to complete the trail registry at www.libbyhill.org. This information helps the organization seek grants for future trail projects and tell it how to improve rails for visitors.
To support future trail work, upkeep of existing trails, new trails, and events donate www.libbyhill.org or send a tax-deductible contribution to the Gray Community Endowment, P.O. Box 1376, Gray, Maine 04039.
The Easter Bunny (Kayla Dore) speaks with Ash Moore Saturday at the Gray Parks & Recreation parking lot just before the Easter egg hunt. Lots of fun and of candy was had by all.
