Editor,
I am writing solely from a personal, not professional, standpoint, in regards to your recent article concerning a Sebago Selectman. First, I am simply amazed, and truthfully, disgusted, that you saw the need to print the article in the first place.
Where is your discretion? Where is your compassion? Where does it say that you need to kick a man when he is down? Clearly, there are not any other newsworthy events taking place, or I would have been reading those instead. Try to bear in mind that this individual you wrote about has family – children and grandchildren, not to mention many friends. My thoughts go out to them, as they have to endure this kind of “gossip.” Also, I may be misinformed, but I thought “mental hospitals” no longer existed in Maine. You must have sold a lot of papers that day, given the caliber of your news stories. How nice for you.
