Visits from North Carolina
Jody Doty and her husband, Dennis, were here over the holidays. They drove up from North Carolina to visit her mother, Polly Varney, and other family members. They spent a total of five days eating, shopping, visiting and celebrating.
Veterans
Mr. Robin Shepard, the State of Maine Veterans Advocate, will be at the Windham Veterans Center from 9 to 11 a.m. on Jan. 9. The center is located behind the Hannaford in North Windham. He will be assisting veterans in applying for services. There is no charge, and no appontment is necessary.
Windham Historical Society
For those of you who are working on family histories, be sure to check the Web site for Windham Historical Society for the records of friends vital statistics. The site also has listings of burials at the many local cemeteries and other information on old deeds and legal matters.
Visits from New York
George Libby came from New York to visit with his mother, Beulah Mason, of Varney Mill Road, for five days over the Christmas Holiday. He also visited with his niece, Wendy Ingersoll.
Phones for Veterans
The local veterans have started a cell phone recycling program. If you have an old cell phone please put it in a used plastic grocery bag and hang the bag on the door knob at the Veterans Center. The vets plan to cut a “drop box” hole next to the front door of the hall and also place collection boxes around town.
Cancer Meeting
The Cancer Support Group meeting will be Jan. 28 in the Windham Public Library meeting room from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Special guest will be Shelley Worthing, who will talk aboout the Look Good-Feel Better program. Family Christmas
Clayton and Kathy Haskell entertained family for Christmas. Those attending were Michael and Tammy Haskell, Elsie Haskell and Tudy Haskell, all of Windham and Harriet Haskell and Terry Toms of Harrison.
Entertain Family
Colleen, Leo, Marin and Emma Tinkham, of Pope Road, entertained other family members on Christmas. Joining them for the day were David and Joan Tobin, David, Bridget, Hannah and Maura Gallagher, Mark and Erin Tinkham and daughter (all of Windham) and Don and Joan Tinkham of Scarborough.
