No one was hurt in a Dec. 20 fire that destroyed the second floor of and damaged the rest of a seasonal home in Naples.
The fire at a Scenic View Drive house owned by Leslie Ray of Topsfield, Mass. overlooking Brandy Pond was reported at 5:28 a.m. by a neighbor shoveling snow at his home.
Firefighters from Naples were joined by crews from Casco, Raymond and Harrison in fighting the blaze that was declared under control at 7:05 a.m.
According to State Fire Marshal Rick Shepard, the cause of the fire was accidental and is being attributed to either an electrical or heating system malfunction.
The roof was destroyed in the fire and the second floor collapsed.
Shephard said no one had visited the home since Thanksgiving weekend, and the absence of footprints around the house when firefighters arrived determined the cause of the fire was not suspicious.
