Editor,
By the time this is printed I will have phoned Standish Town Councilor Lou Stack and apologized for my resignation request of the town councilors which I called for in a letter to the editor two weeks ago. I was not aware that five of them had already been replaced.
It has been my error not to have kept myself informed and thus charging all the counselors for the mishandling for which past councilors were responsible.
The improbable reason being when I moved here from away (Portland) in 1994 I was approached by a councilor to chair a project. After many hours, days, travel and meetings gathering the consensus of the people involved and presenting their wishes, much to our dismay we were completely ignored by the council at that time.
So, let me apologize to the council members I so freely charged. It just seems that some town councils become as complex as municipal, state and federal administrations. You vote someone into office only to have him do the opposite of what he said he would do. This in turn becomes very frustrating for the constituent to the point we do not bother to participate in voting anymore. I’m afraid I fell into this apathetic trap. But in the future, I will stay informed.
You may ask why I haven’t run for councilor. I’m too old and don’t have much time left on top of this Earth. I would rather spend it with my large family. But I will, if the time arises again, speak out as long as I am allowed pencil and paper.
