Dear Former Councilor Michael Shaughnessy, you often write that my style of leadership is “smug, condescending, self righteous, in poor taste and all around undeserving of our community.” Well, sir, I would suggest you spend more time analyzing why you were voted out of office, and less time trying to destroy the reputation of someone who is simply doing the work that the citizens of Windham voted for him to do.
You see Mr. Shaughnessy; progressive leaders take the ball and go with it, while others try to play catch-up. I love the town of Windham and I care deeply for its citizens. As such, I have been both aggressive and progressive in closing off wasteful spending as fast as I can find it, implementing baseline measurement standards, protecting our children from sex offenders, and holding our town leaders accountable to a higher standard.
Your character assassination tactics of firing “little spit balls” at me reflect very poorly on you. Mr. Shaughnessy, you and everyone else should always feel free to criticize my votes or proposals, if you so choose, just lay off the personal attacks. The citizens of Windham deserve better than some pot-shot character assassin trying to brainwash them. I would also urge you to stop using your column in the Lakes Region Weekly to build political capital. By the way, it would be nice to see you at some town council meetings.
Kaile Warren
Windham Town Councilor
