Holiday Concerts at Sebago Elementary School

Students at the Sebago Elementary School have been preparing for months, rehearsing songs for the upcoming holiday concert being held on Monday, Dec. 17.

In the morning, at 10 a.m., children in kindergarten through third grade will be singing in the cafeteria. Then, at 1:30 p.m., grades 4-6 will perform, including members of the chorus and band. Band students have been asked to “look festive,” wearing black, white, red or green in any combination.

Parents, friends and family are always welcome to attend. Bring along a camera for great photo opportunities. If you forget your camera, Lake Region Television films the children’s concerts, and then airs them on local television Channel 3. It’s so much fun to turn on the TV and see your children (or yourself) on television.

December Artist of the Month

Spaulding Memorial Library’s December artist of the month is Miranda Walker. Walker is an accomplished baker and has made wonderful cakes for friends and family. A homemade originally designed gingerbread house will be made fresh for this month’s winning bidder. Starting bid for this delectable creation is $25. The bidding will end on Dec. 19. For more information contact the library at 787-2321, or e-mail directors@spaulding.lib.me.us.

Holiday Giving Tree

The Holiday Giving Tree is in place on the bulletin board in the front lobby of Sebago Elementary School.

On the tree are fun, winter-inspired cut-outs each containing items that the teachers in the school would love to have in their classrooms.

Many teachers spend their own money on classroom supplies, and many families want to reward the teachers’ hard work especially at this time of year. What better way to combine the both than to help make their classroom wishes a reality? Items on the giving tree are small, so many people providing small things adds up to a great difference for each classroom.

Many items you might already have at home, but no longer need include gently used hats, mittens, boots, slippers, snowpants, scarves, and gloves. I noticed a lot of teachers needing headphones and earbuds for their classroom acoustic needs. Specific books, and games, extra snacks, music, fun Band Aids, crafting items, flashlights and batteries are all good examples of things needed in a classroom.

If you have a student attending the school, just send the item in with your child.

Thank-you From Maureen Harriman

On behalf of the Sebago Elementary Parent Teacher Club, I would like to take this opportunity to extend our warmest thanks to all the folks who contributed to, and made our annual tree lighting a success.

I would like to personally thank Allen Crabtree for leading us in song; and the Sebago Lions Club, especially Fern Letellier, and Ted Davis for all their help in setting up and taking down. A much needed thank-you to Jason Green and his family for Santa’s sweet ride into the park.

Many thanks go to all the moms and dads who contributed sweets. All were very yummy. Special thanks to my husband, Chris, who laboriously made the cocoa concoction. Finally, thank you to all those souls who braved the cold to come help us celebrate.

Happy Holidays to you all,

Rabies Clinic- Sebago Town Hall

On Saturday, Jan. 5, 2008, from 9 a.m. to noon, there will be a Rabies Clinic held at the Sebago Town Hall, located on Route 107. This clinic is limited to cats and dogs. The veterinarian also requests no sick or pregnant animals. Please check with your vet first, if you want your pet to receive the distemper shot, to avoid over-vaccinating.

Rabies shots for cats and dogs is $6 each. Cat distemper is $10, dog distemper is $15. For those Sebago residents needing to register their dogs, a town clerk will be available to do so.

All dogs must be registered by Jan. 31, 2008. A late fee of $15 will be charged for all dogs registered after that date. The late fee increases to $25 after April 1, 2008. If you no longer have a dog, notify town office at 787-2457 or email@townofsebago.org to avoid further fees.

Thanks to Everyone

Just a note to thank everyone for all their support and story ideas each week- keep them comin’. I really need and appreciate you all very much. I’m also glad to see this snow. It really looks like Christmas is on the way. Hope you all are having fun this holiday season. We are slowly getting our holiday decorations up, and holiday plans made. Looking forward to seeing our two oldest children over their winter vacations from school. Can’t wait to see my nephews, soon as I can. One will be celebrating his very first Christmas. I am giving him his father’s and uncle’s much-loved colored blocks that I have carefully saved for many years, now contained in a canvas bag very similar to the original one.
