State Sen. Bill Diamond, D-Cumberland County, will host a meeting on Dec. 12 in Windham to discuss creating an Elder Network with similar purposes as those of the Lakes Region Elder Network.

Diamond said of the program, “I think we can create a group of volunteers who can be provided with many of the resources most often requested by seniors in need. The purpose of this initial meeting is to develop a structure for the volunteer group.”

The initial meeting will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12 at Unity Gardens on Route 115 in North Windham. Dona Folke, executive director of the Lakes Region Elder Network, will also attend.

Local senior citizens and those interested in creation of an Elder Network are invited to attend and participate in the discussion.
