About 1880, the Wilson Spring House and Bottling Works were built in North Raymond; the purpose was to compete with Poland Spring House, which had been well established by then. The bottling works was run by two English bottlers, and the water sold and shipped to those who believed the water had therapeutic value. The hotel had 70 rooms and stood on the northwest corner of the North Raymond and Gray Roads. In 1890, the hotel went up in flames and business halted.
