Bryants Celebrate 30th Anniversary Abroad
Rep. Mark Bryant, D-Windham, and his wife, Diane, recently celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary by taking a brief tour of Europe. The couple began with a weekend in Bar Harbor before traveling to London, Paris, Lucerne, Florence and Rome. The anniversary trip also coincided with 50th birthdays for Mark and Diane.
During their 10-day trip, they particularly enjoyed taking a cruise on the Seine River, seeing Paris at night and dining in Rome.
The couple, who live at 166 Albion Road, have lived in Windham for more than 20 years. Diane is a graduate of Dixfield High School and Central Maine Medical Center, where she now works as a registered nurse. Mark graduated from Glen Cove Christian Academy and Andover College, and worked for 20 years at Sappi. He is currently employed with the Maine Turnpike Authority, and represents House District 110, parts of Windham and Gray, in the state legislature.
Historical Society Program
The Windham Historical Society will sponsor Historic Toy Trucks: Rescue and Restoration. Do you remember Tonka, Buddy (L), Nylint, and Structo? Windham Historical Society member Raymond Philpot will display and present information about his collection of toy trucks dating from 1925-2000 at the museum meeting house, 234 Windham Center Road, Monday, Nov. 26 at 7:30 p.m. The public is encouraged to attend.
Philpot says he “rescued” the old, metal trucks just as they were destined for the trash, and restored them right down to the original colors. Each has its own unique story. View the toy restoration process and hear the history of these favorite toys of childhood. Find out the answer to his two most frequent questions: What’s the value of old toy trucks? And, why do grown men still play with toy trucks?
Phones for Veterans
Local veterans have started a cell phone recycle program. Vets ask residents to look in their desk or cabinet drawers for any old cell phones not being used. To donate a phones, put them in a used plastic grocery bag and hang the bag on the door knob at the Windham Veterans Center behind the mall. The vets plan to cut a “drop box” hole next to the front door of the Hall and also place collection boxes around town. Local veterans appreciate the support of the community.
