Police have still not located Nicholas Mains, 29, of Raymond, more than three weeks after he fled from a roadblock in Raymond on Oct. 23. Mains was originally wanted on two counts of failure to appear in court.

Mains was a passenger in a vehicle that caught deputies’ attention when it veered away from a license checkpoint on Route 302. The checkpoint was looking for drivers who were operating after suspension or under the influence. Mains fled on foot, but the driver of the vehicle gave police Mains’ name and Mains was seen by a waiting officer when he attempted to return to his home on Route 121.

However, Mains was able to slip away in a canoe paddling across Panther Pond. Three K-9 units were called in for a search, but it was called off three hours later.

Anyone with information on Mains’ current location can contact the sheriff’s department at 774-1444.
