A Naples woman was killed in a single-vehicle accident that occurred around 3:30 a.m. Saturday on Route 11 in Casco, according to Maine State Police. It took rescue crews four hours to clear the scene.

Ericka Thibodeau, 34, was travelling east when she tried to negotiate a corner and her 2005 Chevy Cobalt went into the soft shoulder, said Maine State Trooper Steven Green. The car flipped over, landing on its roof, and Thibodeau died instantly from severe head trauma.

Green said it took so long to clear away the accident because of forensic mapping reconstruction and the fact that some of the evidence had to be looked at in the daylight.

According to Green, the police are waiting for toxicology reports to see if drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash. He said a reconstruction will determine whether or not Thibodeau was speeding.
