Sixth-seeded Lake Region took third-seeded Leavitt to the brink, but when the dust cleared, the Hornets had a 2-1 double overtime win in a West B field hockey quarterfinal matchup on Tuesday in Turner.

Lake Region coach Dagny Leland said it was intense game from the start with “everybody engaged and doing what was expected of them.”

The Lakers had won five of their last six regular season games entering the tourney. They finish the year with a 9-5-1 overall record in what was another solid season for an always competitive field hockey program.

“We had a great season and gave everything we had and then some,” said Leland. “No complaints. I’m just feeling good about what the players accomplished. I am proud knowing that even though this season was very competitive the girls played to the end.”
