After disbanding the Windham Priority Task Force, the Windham Town Council appointed the Ordinance Update Committee on Aug. 28 to update the town’s land use and subdivision ordinances. The committee is now seeking public input on matters concerning Windham’s ordinances.

The updates are intended to make the ordinances easier to understand and use. To achieve this goal, the committee will attempt to improve definitions and administrative procedures, remove discrepancies and clarify standards. At the same time, the committee will be working to ensure that the updates are consistent with the intent of the 2003 Comprehensive Plan.

The committee is seeking written public comment until Friday, Oct. 19. Comments should focus on areas in which the existing Land Use and Subdivision Ordinances should be improved. This includes confusing language, disagreements between standards, procedures for applications, etc. Comments should be sent to Director of Planning Brooks More at the Town of Windham, 8 School Road, Windham, ME 04062.

The Committee meets every Thursday morning from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at Town Hall in Conference Room 2, unless otherwise noted on the town’s bulletin boards, Web site, or Channel 7. The public is encouraged to attend all meetings. A 15-minute public comment period will be held at the beginning of each meeting.
