These two pictures show the same old schoolhouse as it appeared in 1937 and in its present location. It was built in 1849, on Quaker Ridge Road and used by generations of members of the Friends (or Quakers) who settled the area. In 1971, Hacker Hall and Leona Hall Edwards gave the newly organized Raymond-Casco Historical Society the Friends School building. The building was moved to its present site in Casco Village next to the firehouse in the neighborhood with the town offices, junior high, library and Casco Village Church. The Raymond-Casco Historical Society holds regular meetings and welcomes new members. For more information, write to them at Box 1055, Raymond, ME 04071. Photo courtesy of town of Raymond
