Getting to the Lakes Region in the olden days required real horsepower! We count eight horses in the yard and barn at this familiar Windham location, known to old-timers as Foster’s Corner, and to most people as the Rotary. Before it was Foster’s Corner, it was the location of Pleasant River House and Jake Morrell’s stable and the intersection was known as Morrell’s Corner. The big barn became Cobb’s Garage after the invention of the motorized vehicle. The Pleasant River House burned down long ago. Photo courtesy of the Windham Historical Society
