The Child Nutrition Program in SAD 6 has implemented of a new, computerized Point of Sales System for students to pay for school lunches.
The system, which started last February for the middle and high schools, ensures total confidentiality for all students, no matter what their status as a free, paid or reduced category. Each student and staff member has their own account. A full history of all prepayments and purchases will be kept on file in the system and
copies can be mailed home upon request.
The food service uses a new keypad called TED (Touch Entry Device). This new system will replace the ID cards. Parents of students who do not want to have their child fingerprinted must contact the food service office or send a letter requesting their child not participate in the fingerprinting. Students and staff who are not fingerprinted will still be able to use the new system. Their name will be used to access their information.
The data collected in TED will only be used by the Child Nutrition Program. The program is prohibited from sharing information with any other program or organization.
H. B. Emery Jr. Memorial Elementary in Limington, Hollis Elementary, Frank Jewett/Hanson Elementary in Buxton, George E. Jack Elementary in Standish, and Bonny Eagle Middle School and High School are all using the new system. Other elementary schools in SAD 6 will continue to have check-off lists. These schools will be online in the near future.
