The name wasn’t the only mouthful at the 6th Annual Live & Silent Auction & Taste of the Towns at Camp Sunshine in Casco last Friday night, as 16 local vendors treated attendees to succulent food and drink.
More than 150 people attended the event, put on by the Sebago Lakes Region Chamber of Commerce. Executive Director Barbara Clark said her organization doesn’t release the amount raised, but said it was “equal to our previous auctions. It was very successful.”
“It’s a great business networking event, and a showcase for business services,” said Clark. More than 165 items donated by local businesses were auctioned off.
The chamber will donate some of the proceeds to Camp Sunshine, a retreat for the families of seriously ill children. Clark said the amount has not been determined yet.
Out front, the Windham High School’s Interact Club ran a valet service for tips.
Clark said people were happy with the return of food provided by local restaurants. The Tastes of the Towns portion of the evening was last seen at the event in 2004.
