Meeting
There will be a meeting of the Hiawatha Council Degree of Pocahontas No. 58 Sept. 19 at noon. The meeting will held at the East Sebago Redmen Hall.
Food Pantry
The Windham Food Pantry, in conjunction with Sebasco Harbor Resort, is offering a chance on a golf getaway including an overnight accommodation in the main lodge. If you check in early, you can play golf all day until the room is ready. The package is valued at around $400-$500. To enter, just donate three items to the food pantry; donate six items to enter twice, etc. The winner will be drawn Oct. 30. The date to make a reservation will be up to the winner and the getaway may be used any time until June 2008. Items needed at the food pantry are peanut butter, rice, canned fruit, concentrated juice, hamburger helper, beans, macaroni and cheese.
Bean Supper
A public bean supper will be held on Saturday, Sept. 22 from 5-6:30 p.m. at Windham Hill United Church of Christ, 140 Windham Center Road. Menu includes: hot dogs, three varieties of baked beans, potato salad, tossed salad, macaroni and cheese, dinner rolls, homemade pies, coffee, tea and punch. Price is $7 for adults and $3 for children 12 and under.
Church Yard Sale
St. Ann’s Episcopal Church, located at the corner of River Road and Windham Center Road is having its annual yard sale on Saturday, Sept. 22 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. There will be hot dogs etc. for sale, a baked goods table inside, tables with lots of “treasures” and much more.
Visits
Lew and Joanne Weatherby and their dog, Ginger, had a visit from his daughter, Kristen Westergren, her husband, Andrew, and their dog, Fenway from Hampton, N.H., the weekend of Sept. 2. They spent the day with Joanne’s parents, Paul and Betty Estes, Joanne’s son, Matt, and his dog, Packer, and friends at the Estes’ cottage on Barker Pond.
Lake Region Shriners
The Lake Region Shriners will meet Sept. 18 at the Landing Restaurant. The social hour will be at 5:30 p.m. and dinner will be at 6:30 p.m. The speaker will be Andrew Goodband, a registered nurse who works with the Visiting Nurses Association, Home Health and Hospice. His field of expertise is diabetes.
Meeting
The Rebekah Pinea Lodge No. 71 will meet Sept. 19 at 7:30 p.m. in the Odd Fellows Hall. Election of officers will be held. Members are asked to bring something for refreshments.
