Boys Cross Country

Coach: Adam Zukowski

Key veterans: Cameron Betts, Sam Kiyanitsa, Dennis McCann, Jackson Marshall

Key newcomers: Ben Schaffer, Zack Arnold

Coach’s outlook: Our team’s goal is to qualify for the state meet. Our top four runners are solid, but we need someone to step up and be a solid fifth guy in order for us to reach our goal.

Last year’s record: 3-9-2

Key veterans:Kendall Davis, Joe Ripley, Zeke Pendexter, Zach Field, Andrew Eldridge, Kyle Orlando, Hans Neilson.

Key newcomers: Shane Bukovskey, John Conant, Brandon Ryan, Sam Liberty-Langlias

Coach’s outlook: We are concerned with scoring more goals this saeson. With eight returning seniors and a good number of juniors on the team we have some depth at every position. This team works extremely hard and playing in the Western Maine B Conference you can not afford to not play hard all of the time.

Coach: Chris Nelson

Last Year’s Record: 4-5

Key Players: Nick Audette, junior, RB/LB; Trevor McClutchen, sophomore, RB/LB; Lenny Sherwood, junior, G/DT: Taylor Valente, sophomore, QB/FS

Coach’s outlook: Gray-New Gloucester is a young program, in only its third year at the varsity level. Nelson is in his first year with the Patriots, having come to Gray-New Gloucester from Windham.

The Patriots have a very young squad, with sophomores and juniors making up a majority of the squad. The Patriots have set a playoff berth in their sights this season.

Last year’s record: 1-12-1

Key players: Chelsea Landry, Nicole Ganem, Amanda Redmond

Outlook: It’s been a promising season, we’ve already won one game and it looks like we’re starting to put it all together. We have a really solid defense.

Girls Soccer

Coach: Don Winckler (1st year)

Last year’s record: 2-9-2

Key players: Kelsey Taylor, Taylor Damon

Outlook: I believe we’re going to have a better record than last year. The team has improved substantially in their attitude and skills. They are truly a team that has taken ownership of their success.

Girls Cross Country

Coach: Dick Forbes

Last year’s record: 6-9-missed state meet

Key runners: Amanda Cormier, junior; Rachel Drew, senior; Emily Maguire, senior;

Key newcomers: Caroline Glennon, sophomore; Rachel Edson, freshman; Eliza Foster, freshman; Elena Kiyanitsa, freshman; Margaret Doloff, freshman

Outlook: We’ve only had one meet so far and we did win that meet, and that was encouraging. Two of the freshmen ran well. We’d like to improve, the league is so tough, we haven’t done too much the last couple of years. As we go along, I think these young kids will improve, they work so hard.
