Westbrook police have arrested a former city employee for gross sexual assault.

Michael Boyer, 36, of 326 Brown St., was arrested at 5:30 a.m. on Sunday. Boyer was a technology support specialist for Westbrook from January 2001-April 2006, according to city officlals.

Police said Boyer was arrested following an interview at the Westbrook Police Department. A warrant was granted and Boyer’s home was searched. An investigation is under way.

Police are not releasing any more details of the incident at this time.
