Learn about the production cycle of grapes and the pros and cons of grape growing in southern and coastal Maine in an upcoming practical course offered by the University of Maine Cooperative Extension.
The three-session course on Growing Grapes in Maine is scheduled during the month of September. The course is designed for serious gardeners and small farmers. Extension Small Fruit Specialist David Handley will lead the sessions scheduled for Thursday evenings from 6:30-8:30 p.m., Sept. 13, 20 and 27 at the Maine Forest Service headquarters in Gray.
Tours of a local vineyard is included as part of the course. The cost is $30/person or couple. All participants will receive a handy grape production guide.
