Free kids carnival
The Portland Faith Center, 8 Elkins Road, is hosting a free carnival for kids Saturday from 1-5 p.m.
Carnival features include a moon bounce, pony rides, water slide, dunk tank, paint ball, concert and food.

45th anniversary
Hans and Elizabeth Hansen recently observed their 45th wedding anniversary.
They were married on June 23, 1962, at South Gorham Baptist Church.
Fein at summer series
Storyteller Jody Fein will entertain at 9:30 a.m. today, June 28, at North Gorham Public Library, 2 Standish Neck Road.
Fein is appearing as part of a summer library series that concludes on Thursday, July 12. For more information, call the library at 892-2575.
USM dorm opens this fall
Bob Caswell, a spokesman for the University of Southern Maine, said the $21 million dormitory would be open for the start of school this fall.
The building will house 298 students and will include conference space besides. Students will enjoy the suite-style rooms that are equipped with kitchenettes.
Caswell said about 1,500 students will live on the Gorham campus for the next school year. The new dorm is in the first to be added since 2001.
On Husson’s dean’s list
Joshua M. Wing, the son of Michael and Judy Wing of Gorham, has been named to the dean’s list at Husson College. A 2004 graduate of Gorham High School, he is a junior elementary education major.
Angele D. York the daughter of Gary & Roxanna York of Westbrook. A graduate of Westbrook High School she is a junior Paralegal Studies major.
U.S. taxpayer debt
The Bureau of Public Debt reported on June 20 that the U.S. public debt was $8,813,764,402,186.40.
