Robert Doucette, 26, of Gorham, is in critical condition after a single motor vehicle accident on Route 25 in Standish that occurred on Saturday afternoon.

Doucette, who was driving a Nissan SUV, was reportedly trying to pass another car when he struck a telephone pole. He was ejected from the vehicle and sustained back injuries and brain swelling, according to his brother, John Doucette, who said he had back surgery this morning.

“He’s stable enough,” John Doucette said. He said his brother, who is currently at Maine Medical Center, was speeding at the time of the crash.
